The study aimed at assesses the effect of designed implemented nurses' educational program onminimizing incidence of complications for patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding. To achievethis aim four research hypothesis were formulated; the nurses' post program mean knowledge scoreswill be higher than pre-program mean scores, the nurses' post program mean practice scores will behigher than pre-program mean scores, the frequency of patients' complications incidence postprogram will be lesser than that of the pre- program and there will be a positive correlation betweenthe nurses' knowledge and practice scores. A sample of (60) adult patients with uppergastrointestinal bleeding and (30) nurses were involved in this study. The study carried out at BenhaUniversity Hospitals at the Internal Medicine Department. Data related to this study were collectedby three tools; astructuredinterviewing schedule to assess the nurses’ knowledge, an observationcheck list to assess the nurses' practice and patients' complications assessment sheet. Theresultsimplied that: there was plainly improvement in nurses' knowledge and practice score especiallyimmediately post program implementation, as well as, there were significant differences betweennurses' knowledge and practice in all study phases, also there was precisely decline in allcomplications' prevalence among each and every one in post program implementation group, as wellthere was a positive non-significant correlation between knowledge and practice score.Theconclusion revealed that the program had a positive effect on the nurses' knowledge andpractice as regards to the management for patients with upper gastrointestinal bleeding, as well as,there was precisely decline in all complications' prevalence among the entire post programimplementation group . The study recommended that a continuous in-service education programfor all nurses working in Gastroenterology Unit based on the standards nursing performance isneeded for caring with patients suffering from upper gastrointestinal bleeding.

The study group only was received the assertiveness training program. Tools for data collection: The study tools divided into three tools. Tool (1): Structured Interview Questionnaire to assess socio-demographic and clinical characteristics, tool (II): Assertiveness Scale, and tool (III): Self Esteem Scale. Results: The results indicated that the mean scores of assertiveness skills of the study group was improvement at post program implementation (21.16±1.80) comparing to pre program (10.40±3.83), and the results indicated that the mean scores of self esteem of the study group was improvement at post program implementation (19.86± 5.28) comparing to pre program (36.96±5.23), and was found a highly statistically significant negative correlation between self esteem and assertiveness level of the studied sample. Conclusion: The assertiveness training program had positive effect on assertiveness skills and self esteem of the schizophrenic patients after receiving assertiveness training program. Recommendation: Based on the results of this study we recommended, continuous follow-up for schizophrenic patients participating in assertiveness training program to support and boost their learning skills. Background: The adherence to antihypertensive drugs and life style modifications is a major mean to control hypertension. Aim: The current study aimed to; identify the level of adherence to both the antihypertensive drug treatment and lifestyle modifications among hypertensive patients and factors affecting adherence. Subject and Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional design was used. The study was conducted with convenient sample of 100 hypertensive patients in medical departments of two university hospitals, Cairo and Minia 50 patients from each hospital; using a structured interview questionnaire tool which developed by the investigator based on Modified Health Belief model (HBM). Results: patients in Cairo hospital only who had high level of adherence to drugs (77.17%) while all patients had low level of adherence to life style modification (˂75%), Individuals with high level of adherence were male, married, urban and aged between 45 and 64 years. HBM variables (perceived severity, perceived susceptibility, perceived benefit, perceived barrier, internal factors and health care provider factors) were statistically significant; the cues to action did not show statistical significance. Conclusion: the majority of patients had low levels of adherence, high levels of uncontrolled hypertension, obesity and The reported levels of perceptions to HBM variables support the interplay of other contributory factors to non-adherence. Recommendations: The study recommends Nurses/Doctors to educate patients about adherence necessity, benefits and behaviors and also, recommends policy makers to review and solve problems of cost for drug and medical advice. Further researches are needed in adherence behavior regarding barriers and factors for improvement.

The diabetes Mellitus is a global chronic health problem with devastating, yet manageablecomplications consequences . The prevalence and complications of Diabetes Mellitus has alarminglyworsened therefore aggressive promotion of continuous patients’ awareness, continued screening andearly intervention are pivotal to boosting a positive response in control diabetes and its complications. So the study was aimed to assess patient's awareness regarding Diabetes Mellitus (DM) duringhospitalization in the general hospital in Portsaid city.Design: A cross-sectional descriptiveresearch design. Setting: The study was applied in general hospital. Subjects: This study was carriedout on 100 patients recording in the general hospital in Portsaid city. One tool used for datacollection; "Structured questionnaire sheet" which consist of thirty-eight questions related to thepatient's history, socio-demographic characteristics, and diabetes mellitus. Results: This studyindicated that more than half of both males and females patients had satisfactory awarenessregarding DM. 90.9% ofmales patientsand 73.6% of female patients had significantsatisfactory awareness of the signs and symptoms. Meanwhile quite half of both male andfeminine patients (54.5% and 52% respectively) had satisfactory awareness regarding theComplications. There is a significant relationship between gender and the Patient's DM Typewhere X2 (14.240 ) at P- value .001* . Also, there was no significant relationship between theFrequency of follow-up DM and checking the blood glucose level and gender. Conclusion: Thereis a statistically insignificant relationship between gender and a patient's awareness about diabetesmellitus. Recommendations: Proper Diabetic education programme will help in raising awareness ofdiabetic patients regarding the disease to prevent acute and chronic diabetic complications. Diabetesmellitus has debilitating effects on patients status and communities.
