Effect of Maternity Intensive Care Training Program on Nurses’ Practical Achievement

Aim of study, to evaluate the effect of Maternity Intensive Care training program on Nurses’ Practical achievement. Setting: The study was conducted at intensive care unit, at Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital. Quasi- experimental Design was utilized. A convenient sample was obtained, including all nurses (40 nurses) who were worked and accepted to participate in study, at previously mentioned study setting. Tools of Data Collection were Arabic Structured interviewing questionnaire and Observational checklist in addition to instruction supportive material. The results showed statistically significant improvements in nurses’ practice at immediately, and after three months of intervention , study revealed that high significant relation between before & immediately, and after three months of intervention related to Nurse’s skills (Before intervention and After three months of intervention). It also revealed highly significant relation between Nurse’s skills with age, Qualification and Years of Experience .In conclusion, implementing training educational program for maternity intensive care was effective to enhance nurses’ practice achievement, which was a better achievement of patients' needs. Therefore, it is recommended that this educational program be used in other settings for confirmation of the results and for improvement of the training program.

Suggestion Guidelines for Caregivers Having Children With Wilms'tumor

Aim of study, is to assess the role of caregivers having children with Wilms'tumor, design suggestion guidelines for caregivers having children with Wilms'tumor and disseminate a guideline booklet for parent having children with Wilms' tumor based on need assessment. Design: A descriptive design. Setting: The study was conducted at outpatient clinic and inpatient departments in Children's Cancer Hospital (57357). Subject: The study sample was a purposive sample involved of 80 children suffering from Wilms'tumor, both sex, aged from one day to less than or equal 15 years accompanied with their caregivers. Tools of data collection: A predesigned questionnaire to assess caregivers’ knowledge and practices regarding to their children with Wilms'tumor: Results: The present study revealed that, the mean age of the studied children (3.51±2.97). The greatest majority of the studied caregivers were mothers. There was a statistical significant difference between educational level of the caregivers and their level of knowledge Pvalue(0.013).There was a statistical significant difference between working condition of the caregivers and their level of practices P-value (0.001).Conclusion: The level of knowledge & practices were ranged from poor to an average level among the great majority of the studied caregivers. Therefore, there is a need for the guidelines to support them in care of their children with Wilms'tumor. Recommendations: It could be recommended: Continuous assessment for the level of knowledge & practices of caregivers for children with Wilms'tumor, implementation programs for caregivers having children with Wilms'tumor to keep them updated with health education about care of their children.

Myocardial infarction is a life threatening disease that influences the physical, psychological and social dimensions of the individual. Improper lifestyle is one of the causes of this disease. These consequences in turn may have negative impact on the patient's physical and psychological condition, will prolong patient's hospital stay, and increase hospital costs. Aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of educational guidelines on therapeutic regimen compliance andself - efficacy among patients with myocardial infarction through the following: Assess the study patients' knowledge and practices regarding therapeutic regimen, level of compliance and self –efficacy, develop and implement educational guidelines for the study patients about therapeutic regimen compliance, and evaluate the effect of educational guidelines on patients' level of compliance to therapeutic regimen and self- efficacy. Research hypotheses: The current study hypothesized that, the educational guidelines will have a positive effect on therapeutic regimen compliance and self - efficacy among patients with myocardial infarction. Design: A quasiexperimental research design has been utilized to conduct this study. Setting: Data were collected from outpatient Clinics of Cardiology at Eldmerdash Hospital. The study was conducted on 90 patients, who have been selected by certain criteria. Data tools: Four tools were used for data collection (I) A structured interview questionnaire (A) sociodemographic data questionnaire, (B) Patients` knowledge assessment questionnaire, (II) An observational checklist, (III) Patients' compliance assessment questionnaire, (IV) General Self-Efficacy Scale. Results: This study revealed that there was a statistically significant improvement regarding patients’ knowledge, practice and compliance toward myocardial infarction throughout the study. So, this study concluded that the educational guidelines had a positive effect on improving therapeutic regimen compliance and self – efficacy among studied patients with MI through the enhancement of their knowledge and practices so, the current study recommended that: Patients` education should be held in continuous manner, because it is a fundamental part of their treatment

Quality of life among School Children Suffering from Juvenile Diabetes

Juvenile diabetes is one of the most common pediatric chronic condition and has potentially life-threatening sequel .it has profound effects on children physical , mental, emotional, social, and psychological health status that in turn can effect on quality of life. Aim: This study amid to assess the quality of life among school children suffering from juvenile diabetes and assess factors affecting the quality of life among children suffering from juvenile diabetes. Research design: A descriptive analytical research design. Setting: This study was carried in outpatient clinic for diabetes in pediatric hospital Ain shams University Hospital. Subject: A purposive sample of 100 children who have juvenile diabetes at age 8-12 years and confirmed diagnosis since 6 months or more. Tools: Three tools were used for data collection. First tool: Interviewing questionnaire to assess socio-demographic data and knowledge's about quality of life, second tool Diabetes specific quality of life scale to measure quality of life of children, and third tool physical examination sheet. Results: Accordance to factors affecting quality of life of children suffering from juvenile diabetes medical, economical, psychological, and social factors were the main factors affective quality of life, and the majority of children suffering from juvenile diabetes had average level in quality of life while more than third had poor quality of life. Conclusions: An inverse relationship between the quality of life dimensions and knowledge about diabetes in children suffering from juvenile diabetes where statistically significant for all dimensions.Recommendations: Continuous assessment for diabetic children's knowledge about diabetes mellitus and its control, change misconception, provide them with updated knowledge and develop their abilities for demonstration of therapeutic regimen to achieve high quality of life.

Nurse`s Skills Regarding Prevention of Postpartum Infection

BACKGROUND: Aim of the study: The study aimed to assess nurse's skills regarding prevention of postpartum infection. Setting: the current study was conducted at delivery& postnatal unit at Benha University Hospital. Design: A descriptive study design. Sampling: A convenient sample of a total number of 50 nurses were recruited in the present study. Tools: Two tools were utilized for data collection, structured interviewing questionnaire tool and observational checklist. Results: The majority of the studied nurses had a good knowledge meanwhile, less than half of them had unsatisfactory practices regarding prevention of postpartum infection. There was a statistical significant between studied nurse's total knowledge and their educational qualification (P<0.05). Conclusion: The majority of studied nurses had a good knowledge, on the other hand less than half of them had unsatisfactory practices concerning postpartum infection control measures. Recommendation; periodic in-service educational courses for nurses regarding their needs about preventive measures of infection.

BACKGROUND: Effective teamwork promotes a work environment that has a positive impact on both staff and patients which effects on job satisfaction, and quality of patient care.AIM: to identifying the relationship between staff nurses' perception toward teamwork and their organizational commitment in critical care units through assessing staff nurses' perception towards teamwork and determining the level of their organizational commitment, and finding out the relationship between staff nurses' Perception toward teamwork and their commitment for the organization .Subject And Methods: A descriptive research design was used, study setting were at El-Kharga General hospital in new valley governorate which affiliated to ministry of health. A convenient sample technique of (n70) nurses who working in critical units were included in this study. Two tools were used for collecting data used for collecting data namely; Self-administered questionnaire sheet; team STEPPS Teamwork Perception Questionnaire and Organizational Commitment Questionnaire. Results: The study results demonstrate that, nearly three quarter of the study subjects were perceived teamwork, staff nurses were more perceived teamwork by communication and situation monitoring followed by team skills, ended by leadership, as regarding to organizational commitment, about two thirds of staff nurses were committed for their organization, the staff nurses were more committed by feeling of experience followed by Identity Identification, and ended by equity. Conclusion: The current study had answered the research question by evidence that, there was a strong positive relationship between nurses' teamwork perception and nurses' organizational commitment, nurses were more perceived teamwork, On other hand, the nurses were more committed for their organization by ''feeling experiences'' while. Recommendation: It is recommended that, Conducting workshops and training programs for managers and supervisors about teamwork and it's important for quality of health care focusing on leadership styles as a method to enhancing overall teamwork.

Barriers To Disclosure Of Nursing Practice Errors As Perceived By Nurses.

Background: Patient safety is a concern worldwide and is a significant challenge facing healthcare systems today. Nursing errors have always been a serious, inevitable threat to patients’ safety. Reporting errors is fundamental to error prevention that can increase the rate of survival among patients in hospitals. It is important to detect nursing barriers for not disclosing these errors. Aim: The current study explores nurses' perception of barriers against disclosing nursingpractice errors. Subjects and Methods: A descriptive exploratory design was utilized. The study was conducted at New Kaser El-Aini Teaching Hospital and El Manial Kebli Hospital. Convenient samples of 285 nurses worked in ICUs and 335 nurses worked in inpatient units. For the purpose of this study, questionnaire for nurses was adopted and utilized that consist of two parts: the first part was related to the nurse personal characteristics, the second part assess the nurses perception of the different barriers. Results: showed that the study sample agreed with high percentage for different dimensions and related barriers against error disclosure as fear, ineffective communication and misunderstanding, organization, team work and workload dimensions related barriers. The current study showed statistically significant difference between dimensions related barriers and the personal characteristics of the study sample as gender, educational background, working unit, age and years of experience. Recommendations: Decrease staff fears related to disclosure through modifying the culture of blaming and punishment by the organization. Also the study recommended establishing simple guidelines and procedure for reporting error.

Quality of Life of Elderly People with Peptic Ulcer in Benha City

Peptic Ulcer has a major impact on the health status and continues to be a considerable cause of morbidity and mortality of elderly people. The aim of this study is to assess quality of life of elderly patients with peptic ulcer in Benha City. Research design: A descriptive research design was utilized in this study. Setting: This study was conducted in Gastroenterology Outpatient Clinics of Benha University Hospital and Teaching Hospital in Benha City. The sample: Simple random sample of 25% of all patients attended to previously mentioned setting, the total sample included 150 elderly patients. Two tools were used I): A structured interviewing questionnaire which consists of four parts to assess a): Socio-demographic characteristics of the studied sample.B): Medical history of elderly people with peptic ulcer, c): Knowledge and d): Practices of elderly people regarding peptic ulcer, II): Quality of life scale to assess the effect of peptic ulcer on quality of life among the elderly patients. Results: 54% of the studied sample were female, 50.7 % of elderly patients aged from 60 years old, and 50% of them were married. Regarding the level of education, 45.3 % of them were illiterate, and 74% of them were living in rural area, regarding the past medical history 68% of the elderly patients haven't family history regarding peptic ulcer disease, regarding the present history 92.2 % of elderly people had epigastric pain, regarding their knowledge 62% of the elderly people had poor knowledge about peptic ulcer,66.0% of elderly people had satisfactory practice regarding peptic ulcer, and 42.7% of the elderly people had poor quality of life. Conclusion: There were statistically significant relations between the total knowledge score of the elderly people and their age and level of education. Recommendations: Health educational program should be developed and implemented for elderly people with peptic ulcer to improve, and update them with the most current information about the disease, practices and quality of life

Home Health Care Intervention for Diabetic Retinopathy Patients and their Caregivers to Improve Patients` Quality of Life

The aim of this study was to evaluate home health care intervention for diabetic retinopathy patients and their caregivers to improve patients` quality of life. Design: A quasi- experimental design was utilized. Setting: The study was conducted at Ophthalmological Outpatient Clinics at Benha University Hospital and Benha Teaching Hospital, in Benha City. The sample of this study included 100 diabetic retinopathy patients and their caregivers were chosen systematically from total 1000 diabetic retinopathy patients. Tools: Two tools were used I: An interviewing questionnaire was used to 1-assess socio-demographic characteristics of diabetic retinopathy patients and their caregivers,2- health profile of diabetic retinopathy patients,3- knowledge of diabetic retinopathy patients and their caregivers 4-quality of life of diabetic retinopathy patients. II: An observational checklist was used to observe diabetic retinopathy patients ` home and practices of patients and their caregivers' about diabetic retinopathy. Results: all diabetic retinopathy patients had poor knowledge pre intervention then this percentage decreased to 18% and 34% during post intervention and follow up respectively, 96% of diabetic retinopathy patients` caregivers had poor knowledge pre intervention then the percentage decreased to 6% and 17% during post intervention and follow up after three months respectively, only 14% of the diabetic retinopathy patients had satisfactory practices pre intervention then this percentage increased to 82% and 75% post intervention and follow up after three months respectively, 36% of the diabetic retinopathy patient caregivers had satisfactory practices pre intervention then this percentage increased to 90% and 86% post intervention and follow up after three months respectively, 66% of the diabetic retinopathy patient had poor total scores of quality of life pre intervention then decreased to 16% and 14% post intervention and follow up after three months respectively. Conclusion: The home health care intervention succeeded to increase knowledge and improve practices regarding diabetic retinopathy patients and their caregivers and improve quality of life of diabetic retinopathy patients. Recommendation: Continuous home health care intervention for diabetic patients and their caregivers regarding diabetes and diabetic retinopathy to increase their knowledge and practices

Cerebrovascular stroke has become an increasingly important health problem worldwide. It is ranked as the third leading cause of death, behind heart disease and cancer. Stroke is a leading cause of serious long- term disability. The aim of this study was to evaluate home health care intervention for cerebral stroke patients and their caregivers in Benha city. Design: Quasi -experimental design was utilized in carrying out this study. Setting: the study was conducted at the neurologic outpatients' clinics of Benha University Hospital, Health Insurance Hospital and Teaching Hospital in Benha City. The sample of this study included 100 stroke disease patients chosen randomly from total (1000).Tools utilized in this study comprised a structured interviewing questionnaire for the assessment of the stroke patients and their caregivers' sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge about disease, daily living activities and caregivers burden scale; and observational checklist for home environment assessment, caregivers practices to their patients as feeding, communication skills, giving medications and oral hygiene and degree of self-dependency of cerebral stroke patients through daily living activities. Results of this study showed that 64% of the stroke patients were males and aged 48 years or more with mean age was 54.3±18.2, the majority of caregivers were females, 30% of them aged 18-˂ 28 years with mean age was 36.6±12.4. There was a significant positive effect of home health care intervention on knowledge and practices of cerebral stroke patients and their caregivers after the implementation of the intervention. This study concluded that, there was highly statistically significant relation in the total knowledge score of the stroke patients and their caregivers' pre and post program implementation and there was a positive significant correlation between stroke patient caregivers' total knowledge score and total practices pre and post program implementation. Recommendations: Health educational program should provide stroke patients and their caregivers' with the needed knowledge and practices before hospital discharge.

The Effect of Endotracheal Suction Intervention on Oxygen Saturation Level in Preterm Infants

The endotracheal tube suctioning is one of the most commonly performed nursing procedures which preterm infants under mechanical ventilation require to remove endotracheal tube secretions. Aim of the study isto assess the effect of endotracheal suction intervention on oxygen saturation level in preterm infants. Settings this study was carried out at Neonatal Intensive Care Units of Benha University Hospital, Benha Teaching Hospital and Specialized Pediatric Hospital at Benha city. Sample of the study was a convenient sample composed ofseventy nurses and seventy preterm infants undergoing mechanical ventilation at the previously mentioned settings. Tools of data collection included two tools, (1) A structured interviewing questionnaire schedule about characteristics of preterm infants, personal data of nurses and nurses҆ knowledge, (2) Assessment schedule for monitoring oxygen saturation level of preterm infants and observational checklist for endotracheal suctioning procedure. The main results of this study revealed that, oxygen saturation level decreased after 5 minutes from endotracheal tube suctioning procedure and there was a positive correlation between nursing practice of endotracheal suctioning procedure and oxygen saturation. Conclusion of the study revealed that endotracheal tube suctioning decreases oxygen saturation level of preterm infants. The main recommendation is making periodical educational training programs for nurses working at NICU about oxygen saturation and importance of monitoring it during endotracheal tube suctioning procedure.

Aim of the study: The study aimed to assess women's knowledge, practices and attitude regarding family planning. Setting: The study was conducted at Benha Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health. Design: Descriptive study design. Sampling: A purposive sample included 400 women were recruited in the current study. Tools: Two tools were used to collect data, an interviewing questionnaire to collect data related to women's knowledge and practices regarding family planning and Modified Likert scale was used to assess women's attitude regarding family planning. Results: The present study revealed that, the majority of studied women had inadequate knowledge regarding family planning, while the majority of them had positive attitude regarding family planning. More than half of studied women had satisfactory level of practices regarding current using method of family planning. Conclusion: There was a highly positive correlation between studied women's knowledge and their practices of family planning(p<0.001**). There was a significant negative correlation between studied women's knowledge and their attitude regarding family planning(p=0.05*). Recommendations: Periodic educational program for women to increase their knowledge and to improve their practices. Counseling women about the importance of periodic follow up.

Knowledge, Attitude and Preventive Measures regarding Hepatitis B among Adolescents contacting Outpatient Pediatric Clinics

Hepatitis B infection is a serious health problem worldwide. Prevention of this disease with its fatal consequences depends greatly on the level of adolescents' knowledge, attitudes and preventive measures about it. Aim: This study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude and preventive measures regarding hepatitis B among adolescents contacting Pediatric Outpatient Clinics of Tanta University hospitals, Egypt. Setting: The study was carried out at Outpatients Pediatric Clinics of Tanta University Hospitals. Sampling: A purposive sample of all adolescents contacting the pediatric clinic from June - July 2016 and willing to participate in the study were included. Their number was 100 adolescents and their ages ranged from 12-18 years. Research design: A descriptive design was used. Results: The majority of the studied subjects had educated parents, about three fourth of them had unsatisfactory knowledge regarding hepatitis B definition, management and the family constitute the main sources of knowledge to 39% of them. About one third of the studied subjects who had unsatisfactory score of the total knowledge were males (29%) and had none employed parents (father 35%& mother 44%).Regarding the subjects' attitude, three fourth of them ; realize that hepatitis B is an infectious disease and half of them also accept to make a check up for hepatitis B. One third of the studied subjects' who had unsatisfactory attitude to hepatitis B infection were males and had none employed parents, compared to only one fifth of female subjects. Regarding subjects' preventive measures, about one third of male subjects had unsatisfactory preventive measures score regarding hepatitis B and had none employed parents. Conclusion: More than three fourth of the studied subjects had unsatisfactory knowledge about hepatitis B definition and management and have unsatisfactory attitude to hepatitis B and do unsatisfactory measures when dealing with hepatitis B infected persons. Recommendations: Educational and health promotion programs should be conducted to increase the level of knowledge, attitudes and preventive measures regarding Hepatitis B among the adolescents

The quality of the relationship between nurses and their supervisor may contribute to eliminate intention to leave workplace by nurses. The study aimed to identify perceived nursing supervisor support and its relation to turnover intention among staff nurses. Research design: A comparative correlational design was utilized to meet the aim of this study. The study setting:this study was conducted at critical and non-critical care units at Benha University Hospital. The study sample: composed of all staff nurses (293) who are working in the above mentioned setting; 149 of staff nurses working at non-critical care units and 144 staff nurses working at critical care units. Tools: two tools were used for data collection; Perceived Nursing Supervisor Support Questionnaire and Turnover Intention Questionnaire. Results: more than two fifth of staff nurses had moderate perception level regarding nursing supervisor support at critical and non-critical care units. Staff nurses working at critical care units had higher turnover intention level than staff nurses working at non-critical care units. Conclusion: there was highly statistically significant negative correlation between perceived nursing supervisor support and staff nurses' turnover intention at critical and non-critical care departments. The study recommended: that nursing supervisors should be trained to provide constructive feedback and support to their staff nurses which may help to decrease turnover intention.

Effect of an Educational Program on Knowledge and Practices about Environmental Health among 2nd Year Students, General Department

Background: Environmental health (EH) has various effects on man such as chemical, physical, biological, social, and psychological problems. Also, it is the theory and practice of assessing, correcting, controlling and preventing harm to human health today and in future generations. Nurses are in primary position in dealing with patients and public health. Nursing knowledge is key to advocacy and care in environmental health. Inclusion of an environmental focus in a public health simulation scenario provides nursing students with knowledge and understanding of environmental health and its impact on clients and communities. This study aims to assess the effect of an educational program on knowledge and practices about environmental health among 2nd year nursing institute students, general department . Research design: A quasi experimental pre- posttest was used. Subjects: all nursing students who are enrolled in the 2nd year at Technical Health Institute, Zawet Ghazal area, general department and accepted to participate (n=180). Data collection: by two tools, 2 self-administered questionnaires were designed. Tool one was used to assess the students` knowledge regarding environmental health. Tool two ,the modified environmental health risk appraisal, was used to assess environmental health teaching points, which students taught clients during home visits after the EH educational intervention. An environmental intervention program was introduced to participants. The study was performed in three phases pretest, posttest and follow up. Results: the student nurses need to get more knowledge regarding environmental health aspects to improve their knowledge and health teaching practices. After the environmental intervention program the students’ knowledge and health teaching practices were improved . Conclusion: significant positive changes in the level of knowledge of the participants after implementation of the environmental educational program. Recommendations: Implement comprehensive environmental educational program in the curriculum of technical health institute.

Proposed Nursing Guideline Regarding Sexual Transmitted Diseases Among Adolescent Girls

Background: Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs ) are major global public health problems that consider the main cause of acute illness, infertility, long-term disability and death. Aim of this study was to evaluate the proposed nursing guidelines regarding sexual transmitted diseases among adolescent girls. Materials and methods: Design: Quasi-experimental Design. Sample: a Purposive sample of a total 108 adolescent girls nursing students which included 75 in 1st academic year & 33 in 2nd year .Setting: data collected from Faculty of Nursing Assuit University. Results: the study revealed that there were mean age (19.20±.78251.On the other hand there was a highly significant difference between pre & post- test regarding knowledge of STDs (P< 0.001**). Conclusion and Recommendation: Further researches are still needed to implemented guideline of nursing education and practice for adolescent girls among STDs.

Utilization of Team Building Strategies among Nurses Working in Rural Health Units

Background: People in every work place talk about building the team, working as a team, but few understand how to create the experience of team work or how to develop an effective team. Belonging to a team, in the broadest sense, is a result of feeling part of something larger than oneself to contribute to the overall success of the organization. Aim: This study aimed to assess nurses' utilization of team building strategies. Subject& method: The descriptive design was utilized to carry out the present study. This study was carried out in (11) Rural Health Units at El-Tal El-kebeer City, in Ismailia Governorate. All nurses (97) working in Rural Health Units at El-Tal El-Kebeer City, Ismailia Governorate were participated in the study. Tool of data collection: Self Administered Questionnaire Sheet was used to assess nurses' utilization of team building strategies. Results: The results indicated that majority of nurses utilized all team building strategies, especially commitment and connection strategies. There was no statistically significant relationship between age, sex, years of experience, nursing qualifications and utilization of team building strategies except cooperation strategy. Conclusion: most nurses were utilizing different team building strategies. Also, the common strategies that used were both commitment strategy and connection strategy. Recommendation: It is recommended to encourage nurses for the utilization of contribution strategy through: highlighting the talents, experiences, and accomplishment, providing professional development opportunities, participating in problem solving and decision making. Models of team building should be used inside each health unit.

Reproductive health is a crucial feature of healthy human development and of general health. The aim of this study was to assess women's perception and practices regarding their rights of reproductive health in rural area. Design: A descriptive analytical research design was used in carrying out this study. Setting: The study was conducted at 3 Maternal and Child Health Care Centers at Benha City. Sample: A simple random sample of 250 women was used in this study. Tools: Tow tools were used . I-An interview questionnaire; consisted of a).Socio-demographic characteristics of the studied women, b).Women's knowledge about reproductive health, c). Women's knowledge about reproductive rights, d). Practices as reported by women regarding reproductive health, II- Women's perception scale: To assess women's perception about the importance of women's rights and reproductive health. Results: 82.2% of the studied women had correct knowledge about reproductive health, 67.2 % of the studied women had good knowledge about the reproductive health rights, and 63.6 % of the studied women reported practicing the good behaviors about reproductive health, 92.8% of the studied sample agreed and perceived the importance of reproductive health and rights. Conclusion: There were highly statistical significant relation between the studied women's reported practices and their knowledge about reproductive health. Also, there was highly statistical significant relation between the studied women‟s knowledge about reproductive health and their perception of the importance of women‟s rights on reproductive health. In addition, there were highly statistical significant relation between women‟s practices and their perception of the importance of women‟s rights to reproductive health. Recommendation: Health education program for women regarding importance and advantages of reproductive health practice and reproductive health rights for empowering women to understand their rights and change women‟s practices rather than providing only knowledge, further research about obstacles of women‟s reproductive health

Effect of practicing Pelvicrocking Exercises on Primary Dysmenorrhea among Adolescent Girls: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Reproductive health Background: Dysmenorrhea is a very common gynecological problem in menstruating women and reported prevalence rate is as high as 90 percent. A pelvic rocking exercise helps in reducing menstrual cramps and improves associated symptoms. The aim of the study is to investigate the effect of pelvic rocking exercises on primary dysmenorrhea among adolescent girls. Subject and methods: A quasi-experimental research design with pre-post assessment was used. A randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted on one hundred students were representative from faculty of nursing at Minia University. Self-administered questionnaire, Visual Analogue Scale and follow up are used for data collection. Results: Following the intervention, pain intensity scores decreased significantly (p<0.0001) in the experimental group as compared to control group during the first and second cycle. Statistically significance (p<0.000) reduction in pain duration, menstrual flow duration and number of analgesic tablets consumption during first and second cycle after intervention between groups.Showed improvement in all life activity variable regarding attending school, social activities and relationship with friends and family. Conclusion and recommendations: Based on the results of the present study it can be concluded that, the application of pelvic rocking exercise for adolescent girls who were suffering from moderate to severe primary dysmenorrhea had a positive effect in reducing pain intensity scores, pain duration, menstrual flow duration and the number of analgesic tablets consumption during first and second menstrual cycle after intervention. Therefore, pelvic rocking exercise can be used as non-pharmacological methods to alleviate primary dysmenorrhea. Based on the findings, current study recommended that the obstetric nurse can help in supporting the adolescent girls to provide comfort during menstruation by encouraging them to practices rocking exercise. Health education program in schools to increase awareness about non-pharmacological methods of pain relief during menstruation and emphasize on exercise to decrease primary dysmenorrhea..

Reletionship between Workplace Violence and Job Satisfaction among Nurses Working In Psychitric Setting

The aim of this study was to assess the impact of workplace violence on job satisfaction among nursing staff. A descriptive comparative design was utilized in this study. Samples of convenience of 600 psychiatric nurses were selected from the inpatient departments and outpatient clinic of EL-Abbassia Mental Health Hospital in Cairo. Socio-demographic / I- data sheet and causes of violence and types of aggression and violence scale, workplace re-currency of violence, job satisfaction scale and productivity were used to achieve the purpose of this study. A semi-structured interview was used to collect the data the studied sample. Findings of this study indicate that, psychological, sociocultural, environmental and interactional factors are the most frequent causes for violence and violence among psychiatric patients. The study has also outlined some individuals’ psychological, sociocultural, environmental and interactional factors that may reflect the incidence of violence. All of these factors interact with job satisfaction and productivity a plan of action to reduce and prevent violence. There were highly statistically significant correlation between violence, job satisfaction and productivity among nurses. To conclude it is important also, encouraging staff nursing importance of incidence reports. Periodical in-service training programs should be designed and prevention for nursing staff in prediction and management of violent behaviors in psychiatric settings.

Occupational Health Program for High Risk of Musculoskeletal Pain among Primary School Teachers

The term “musculoskeletal pain” here refers to work-related injuries that lasted more than a day, affected daily activities, and happened during work hours. Aim: The present study aimed to evaluate the effect of occupational health program for high risk of musculoskeletal pain among primary school teachers. Design: A quasi-experimental design Settings: This study was conducted at four governmental preparatory schools, for boys and girls were located in the El Waily Zone at El - Abbassia District, Cairo Governorate. Sample: A purposive sample was used to conduct this study. The total sample size included 93 teachers (44 teachers from Esmail Elkabani, & El Salam school and 49 from Ghamra, & El Abbassia preparatory school), they were chosen according to inclusion &exclusive criteria. Tools: Four tools were used in the present study included a self administered questionnaire to assess teachers‟ general characteristics, an observational checklist was used for assessing the body posture and workstation layout, teachers‟ practices toward ergonomics exercises, Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ) and anthropometric measurement to assess body mass index. Results: The results shows that 44.6% of primary school teachers their age started from 30 and above with the mean ±SD36.4±2.6 , 58.5% of them were male and 78.7% of the studied teachers were suffering from musculoskeletal pain .There was a highly statistically significant differences among primary school teachers according to their total satisfactory knowledge about skeletal pain. The same results indicates that there was a highly statistically significant differences between the study sample according to their total practices pre & post program at P <0.001 with positive relation between teachers total knowledge in relation to their total practices pre &post program implementation. Conclusion: The occupational health program had a statistically significant improvement in primary school teacher‟s knowledge and practices at post program phases compared to pre program implementation. Recommendations: Increase the awareness of work-related musculoskeletal pain prevention and management among primary school teachers and apply ergonomics training program aiming to maintaining optimal posture and teach of them how to avoid/decrease MSDs while working at school through the role of school health nurse.

The Myocardial infarction is a life threatening disease that influences the physical, psychological and social dimensions of the individual. Improper lifestyle is one of the causes of this disease. These consequences in turn may have negative impact on the patient's physical and psychological condition, will prolong patient's hospital stay, and increase hospital costs. Aims: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of educational guidelines on therapeutic regimen compliance and self - efficacy among patients with myocardial infarction through the following: Assess the study patients' knowledge and practices regarding therapeutic regimen, level of compliance and self – efficacy, develop and implement educational guidelines for the study patients about therapeutic regimen compliance, and evaluate the effect of educational guidelines on patients' level of compliance to therapeutic regimen and self- efficacy. Research hypotheses: The current study hypothesized that, the educational guidelines will have a positive effect on therapeutic regimen compliance and self - efficacy among patients with myocardial infarction.Design: A quasi-experimental research design has been utilized to conduct this study. Setting: Data were collected from outpatient Clinics of Cardiology at Eldmerdash Hospital. The study was conducted on 90 patients, who have been selected by certain criteria. Data tools: Four tools were used for data collection (I) A structured interview questionnaire (A) sociodemographic data questionnaire, (B) Patients` knowledge assessment questionnaire, (II) An observational checklist, (III) Patients' compliance assessment questionnaire, (IV) General Self-Efficacy Scale. Results: This study revealed that there was a statistically significant improvement regarding patients’ knowledge, practice and compliance toward myocardial infarction throughout the study. So, this study concluded that the educational guidelines had a positive effect on improving therapeutic regimen compliance and self – efficacy among studied patients with MI through the enhancement of their knowledge and practices so, the current study recommended that: Patients` education should be held in continuous manner, because it is a fundamental part of their treatment.

Relation Between Caregivers' Burnout and Psychological and Verbal Abuse for Elderly Living in Geriatric Institutions

Elder abuse related to the unidentified crime that seniors are hesitant to speak about. Aim: To assess the relation between caregivers' burnout and psychological and verbal abuse for elderly living in geriatric institutions. Design: A descriptive correlational design was used. Setting: Om Kalthoumand Huda Talaat Harb geriatric institutions at Helwan District. Sample: Purposive sample including 60 elderly and 35 caregivers working in the above mentioned settings. Tools:1) Demographic interviewing sheet about the caregivers and elderly 2) Maslach Burnout Inventory for the caregivers 3) Psychological and verbal abuse assessment sheet for elderly. Results: Revealed statistically significant direct correlations concerning working hours/day and years of experience, and burnout and exhaustion scores(p<0.05). The elderly gender was the only significant predictor for psychological score. There were no statistically significant correlations between all caregivers' burnout items and elderly scores related to psychological and verbal abuse, and among caregivers' scores and each other's(p<0.05). Conclusion: There were direct positive correlations between caregivers' burnout (exhaustion) and psychological and verbal abuse for elderly. Recommendations: Training program for care providers and family members to improve their knowledge about needs and problems of the old age and factors that lead to elder abuse.

Stressors and Coping Patterns of Newly Versus Old Diagnosed Children with Type1 DiabetesMellitus: An Assessment Study

Background: Children with type1 diabetes are at a greater risk for emotional and behavioral problems. Children with poorly controlled diabetes are at risk of negative effects on the child's personality, schooling, participation in activities, finally leading to stressors uprising. Research Design: A descriptive comparative design was utilized in this study. Aim: This study aimed to assess the stressors and coping patterns of newly versus old diagnosed children with type1diabetes and to assess factors affecting stressors and coping of newly and old diagnosed children with type1 diabetes. Setting: This study was conducted at Diabetes Outpatient Clinics of Children's Hospitals affiliated to Ain Shams and Tanta universities. Subjects: The study involved 200 children aged from birth to 18 years old diagnosed with type1 diabetes, (57) of them were newly diagnosed since less than 6 months and (143) were old diagnosed children with type1 diabetes since more than 6 months period. Tools of data collection: 1-A questionnaire sheet to assess children‟s characteristics, factors affecting stressors, coping patterns and physical, psychological and social stressors affecting the newly and old diagnosed children with type1diabetes. 2-Stress scale to assess the behavior of the diabetic children towards type1 diabetes. 3-Coping patterns scale to assess the diabetic children coping patterns towards type1 diabetes. Results: Old diagnosed children had more physical (37.1%), psychological (70.6%) and social stressors (71.3%) compared with newly diagnosed children with type1 diabetes. Stress level was mild (33.3% and 37.1%) and moderate (22.8% and 24.5%) in both newly and old diagnosed children and both of them were sometimes (42.1% and 43.4%) able to cope with type1 diabetes. Factors affecting stressors and coping patterns were children age and ranking. There was a significant difference between newly and old diagnosed children related to stressors, stress, coping patterns and their age, ranking and parental discovery of diabetes. Conclusion: Old diagnosed children with type1 diabetes had physical, psychological and social stressors more than newly diagnosed children and both of them were sometimes able to cope with type1 diabetes. Factors affecting stressors and coping patterns of newly and old diagnosed children with type1diabetes were child‟s age, ranking and parental discovery of type1 diabetes. Recommendations: Designing and carrying out programs to support newly, old diagnosed children and their parents to cope with type1 diabetes and minimize their physical, psychological and social stressors

Assessment of the Dimensional Application of International Safety Goals for Children in Hospitals

Introduction: Nursing staff has an important role in understanding and apply the six international patient children safety goals to minimized hazards and errors. The Aim of the study: This study aimed to assess the dimensional application of nursing for international safety goals in hospitalized children. Research Design: A descriptive design was utilize in this study. Setting: it was conducted at Pediatric outpatient clinics in Children Hospital affiliated to Ain Shams University Hospitals and and Health Insurance Hospital in Nasr city. The subjects: The subject of this study was convenient sample composed of 100 nurses working at the previously mentioned settings regardless their experiences, level of education, position, or age. Tools of data collection: First tool: A structured Interviewing Sheet: this tool was designed by the researcher and written in simple Arabic language based on scientific literature review to gather data and knowledge about dimensional of children international safety goals in pediatric department at previously mentioned settings. Results: There was statistical significant difference between years of experience of the studied nurses and their knowledge and practices regarding to child patient safety. Conclusion: In the light of the study findings, it might be concluded that, more than half of the studied nurses had poor knowledge and unsatisfactory practices regarding the levels of the dimensional application of international safety goals for children in hospital. Meanwhile the factors contributing as obstacles for dimensional application of international safety goals for children in hospital were observed in the positive relation between the years of experiences of the studied sample and its relation with their level of knowledge and practices. Recommendation: Establishing the system of application the international safety goals for children in hospital and emphasize the important of application the international safety goals for children in hospital in nursing.

Introduction: Cardio pulmonary resuscitation is a series of actions that may significantly increasethe chance of survival following cardiac arrest. In most cardiac arrests, the critical elements of CPRare chest compressions and early defibrillation. Each situation is different depending on the rescuer,the victim and circumstances, but the key to success is early intervention. Aim: Developing,implementing and evaluating the effect of non-traditional teaching method on nurse’s performanceregarding basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Subjects & Methods: A quasi experimental studywas conducted under the Authority Police Hospital at El-Agouza. Results: Less than half of nursesunder study obtained very good in traditional teaching method and half of nurses under studyimproved knowledge and practice post used non-traditional method implementation with high effectskills after used film with booklet. Conclusion: The Level of nurse’s knowledge & practice wasincreased after using non traditional method regarding to basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR)..Recommendations: Suggested additional non-traditional for nurses regarding CPR to keep them intouch with advances in health education about using video film to easy understand to nurses and to givenurses based of knowledge and skills about CPR as non-traditional methods of teaching.
