Abstract

Background: In 2023, an earlier and more widespread outbreak of Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP). It seems necessary to provide effective training methods to nurses in preventing spread of Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia. Aim: To determine the effect of the six-step strategy guided by online training program on pediatric nurses' knowledge and practice regarding Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia Methods: A quasi-experimental research pre-post design, design was used. Setting: The study was conducted in Pediatric Chest Outpatient Clinic affiliated to Sohag University Hospitals. Subjects: all pediatric nurses (30) who are working in the previous selected setting. Tools for data collection: (1) A structured interviewing questionnaire that was constructed by the researcher including two parts, and tool (2) observational checklist was used to collect data. Results:  There was a highly statistically significant difference between the studied nurses' knowledge and practice. There was a highly statistically significant correlation in nurses' knowledge and practice post the six-step strategy guided by online training program than pre training (all P<0.001). Conclusions: The six-step strategy guided by online training program effectively enhanced and improving nurses' knowledge and practice regarding Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia. Recommendations: It is recommended to maintain continuous education and training targeting all healthcare providers.
